Logitech MX Keys Keyboard Review

Logitech MX keys review

Logitech is a brand many associate with innovation and reliability in the tech world. Their commitment to enhance UX shines through with the MX Keys. This review is based on how the keyboard performs in the office space.

Pros and Cons

Versatility

One standout feature of the Logitech MX Keys is its compatibility with both Windows and Mac devices, catering to a diverse user base. Additionally, Logitech’s Options Plus app allows users to customize key functions and even program app-specific shortcuts, enhancing productivity and workflow efficiency.

Seamless Multi-device

Another unique feature the Logitech MX keys have is its ability to effortlessly switch between three paired devices via Bluetooth connectivity. Whether it’s your MacBook Pro, iPad, smartphone, or even Apple TV, this keyboard allows you to seamlessly transition between devices without the hassle of repairing each time. Which is a cool feature if you like to work with different devices during the day. For me, this isn’t a feature I use at work but I could see how it would be ideal if you change your work location during the day.

The Design of the Logitech MX keys

The Logitech MX Keys retains the sleek and minimalistic design of its predecessor. Its lightweight and slim profile makes it easy to handle and transport, catering to users who value mobility. Despite its full-size layout, the keyboard remains inconspicuous on the desk, striking a balance between comfort and space efficiency. Available in graphite, pale gray, rose, and black color options, it caters to various preferences and aesthetics. Because of the minimal design, the MX keys don’t have a trackpad. If you are someone who uses it regularly, you have to keep that in mind when buying. However, it is possible to buy it separately if you find it necessary.

Typing experience

The Logitech MX Keys boasts a full-size layout with 108 keys, including a number pad and a suite of function keys doubling as multimedia controls. Its low-profile design, reminiscent of laptop keyboards, offers a unique typing experience characterized by minimal key travel. Logitech aptly labels its membrane keys as ‘laptop typing,’ featuring circular indentations for enhanced comfort. However, users accustomed to higher-profile keyboards may find extended usage discomforting. I enjoy the low-profile design personally as it makes it faster to type. I like that the keyboard features an emoji button as I use them quite often and it makes it a lot quicker to find them instead of searching for them.

Typing feels light and responsive due to its scissor switches’ short pre-travel distance and low operating force, and its indented keys help minimize typos. Also, typing noise is quiet and shouldn’t bother people around you. This is nice when working in an open office space.

The soft-touch keys minimize typing errors and maintain a silent operation, ideal for maintaining focus in shared workspaces. The fully illuminated backlight ensures visibility in any lighting condition, with customization options available for personalized preferences.

Long-lasting battery life

Equipped with a rechargeable battery via USB-C, the MX Keys offers impressive battery life, boasting up to 5 months without backlighting and 10 days with backlighting. This ensures uninterrupted usage for extended periods.

Price and availability

Priced around €120, the MX Keys offers excellent value for its features and performance. For those interested in purchasing the MX Keys. You can buy it right here.
